Heritage Farmstead Homeschool Day

Join us on the Farmstead for Homeschool Day!

  • Learn from demonstrators how useful products were made in the past or in the present.
    • Watch an experienced Blacksmith in action and learn why this occupation was an important job.   
    • Explore fiber arts with Dallas Handweavers & Spinners Guild
    • See how food was cooked on an open fire 
    • Ask a Master Gardener about the plants growing in the Kitchen Garden
    • Talk to a Master Naturalist about the Native Prairie Garden
  • Enjoy a wagon ride around the 4-acre farm
  • Meet all the farm animals (goats, sheep, pigs, donkey, ducks, and guinea fowl)
  • Wash laundry the old-fashioned way
  • Feed the chickens
  • Learn how to milk a cow with Buttermilk, the magnificent mechanical cow
  • Challenge yourself with a scavenger hunt
  • Use a high wheel plow 

Wilson House will not be open for this event.

Activities open from 10am-12pm. Farm open until 1pm. Bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the farm!

Tickets:

  • Child (2-16 years) $12  
  • Children under 2 years old – reserve a ticket at no cost  
  • Adult (17 years and up) $5
